  • Position Description: The HIPS Mobile Services Van serves as a “mini HIPS office on wheels”. The van does street-based outreach, needle exchange, condom distribution, and harm reduction counseling around DC. Our overnight weekend shifts are from 11 P.M. – 5 A.M. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Our daytime team is out Monday – Thursday in the afternoon each week.

It also helps link clients to our continuum of services such as: testing (HIV, HCV, & STD), harm reduction based needle exchange services, drop in service referrals for showers and laundry, mental health support and counseling, support and life skills groups, as well as HIPS crisis response team.

Community Engagement (Non-Direct Service) -
  • Position Description: HIPS has fundraising, advocacy, tabling and events opportunities.
  • Required Training: None.
  • Skills & experience: None required, but previous fundraising and advocacy experience is helpful.
