SUMMARY
HIPS Center for Health and Achievement houses our Drop-In Center, which offers groups, showers, laundry, medical services, syringe exchange, HIV Services, and support & referrals services for individuals involved in street economies. The Drop In Center Manager is
responsible for the day-to-day operations of a drop-in center, overseeing the space, staff, and services provided to individuals who can access the center for various needs like basic necessities, social interaction, and access to support services, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment while coordinating activities, managing client intake, and collaborating with other
agencies to provide comprehensive support.
An ideal candidate will have great communication skills, excellent problem solving skills, superior attention to detail and a commitment to helping create an environment at HIPS to help
our clients and staff succeed.

This is a full time hourly position with benefits. Position is for 12 months, with the opportunity for an extended contract based on available funding. In-person position located in Washington DC. Some minimal lifting, physical activity, walking up stairs and sitting required. Evening and weekend hours required. Opportunity for hybrid administrative hours.

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Management:
- Overseeing the daily operations of the drop-in center, including opening and closing
- procedures, maintaining cleanliness and order.
- Managing staff schedules and ensuring proper coverage during operating hours.
- Monitoring and maintaining inventory of supplies and resources.
- Implementing and enforcing center policies and procedures.
- Welcoming and registering clients upon arrival, conducting intake assessments and
- needs evaluations.
- Maintaining client records and data, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with
- regulations.
- Building relationships with community partners and referral sources to identify and
- connect clients with needed services.
- Conducting outreach activities to raise awareness about the drop-in center and its
- services.
- Participating in community meetings and collaborations to advocate for client needs.
- Assist with the hiring, training, and supervising staff members responsible for providing
- direct services to clients.
- Providing ongoing feedback and performance evaluations for staff
- Leading program meetings to discuss operational updates and program development
- Monitoring and managing the drop-in center budget, ensuring efficient allocation of funds
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in social work, human services, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with diverse populations experiencing homelessness, poverty, or
- other social challenges
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with clients and
- community partners
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills, including data management and
- record keeping
- Knowledge of local community resources and service providers
- Ability to respond to crisis situations and provide crisis intervention when needed
- Coordinating volunteer activities within the center
- Proficient in Google Suites
