Client Concierge (Level 1)
SUMMARY
HIPS Center for Health and Achievement houses our Drop-In Center, which offers groups, showers, laundry, medical services, syringe exchange, HIV Services, and support & referrals services for individuals involved in street economies. The Client Concierge is responsible for greeting visitors, checking them in, providing basic information about the center's services, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, answering phone calls, managing walk-in traffic, and ensuring the front desk area is organized, all while upholding a focus on providing supportive and respectful service to individuals accessing the drop-in center.

This is a full time hourly position with benefits. Position is for 12 months, with the opportunity for an extended contract based on available funding. In-person position located in Washington DC. Some minimal lifting, physical activity, walking up stairs and sitting required. Evening and weekend hours required.

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Greeting and welcoming visitors:
- Professionally greet all individuals entering the drop-in center, providing a positive first impression.
- Registering visitors by collecting necessary information, including basic demographics and reason for visit.
- Answering questions about the drop-in center's services, available programs, and facility layout.
- Answering incoming calls, directing inquiries to appropriate staff, and taking messages.
- Keeping the reception area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary materials like brochures and forms.
- Scheduling appointments when needed, maintaining logs and records of visitor information, and updating data as necessary.
- Recognizing potential crisis situations among visitors and escalating to appropriate staff when needed.
- Assisting visitors in connecting with appropriate services or support within the center or community.
- Adhering to strict confidentiality guidelines regarding visitor information.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent customer service skills:
- Ability to interact with diverse individuals in a friendly, respectful, and patient manner.
Strong communication skills:
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication to answer questions and provide information.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain a neat work area.
- Familiarity with basic computer programs for data entry and record keeping.
- Calmly handling potential conflicts or challenging interactions with visitors.
